Josep Tornero
Josep Tornero, Manises (Valencia), 1973. Tornero is a Doctor on Fine Arts from the University of Murcia. His most recent projects include The Disappearance Of Fireflies, at the Center del Carme Cultura Contemporània in Valencia (2019), Essay On Discredit, at the T20 gallery in Murcia (2017) or Fantasmagorias: Object And Symptom, carried out at the Center Párraga de Murcia (2015). He has been awarded different prestigious awards and scholarships, such as the recent XI National Painting Prize of the Parliament of La Rioja (2019), the “Escletxes” Calls For Support Of Artistic Research And Production 2018-20 of the Consortium of Museus de la Generalitat Valenciana (2017) or the prestigious MAEC-AECID Scholarships For Artists And Researchers at The Royal Academy of Spain in Rome (2015-16). He has numerous group exhibitions held in national and international museums, galleries and institutions, and his work has been shown in the latest editions of Estampa and ARCO Madrid, being one of the invited artists at the ABC Cultural stand at ARCO Madrid 2018.
Josep Tornero’s painting is expressionist. The artist has found his own language using almost exclusively black and white tones, when he does not add just a few touches of color. The dark and critical universe that results of it refers mainly to History.
